School grounds and classrooms

New facilities 2017

During 2017 new facilities will be built at the front of the school. The purpose built facilities include nine classroom spaces, a therapy room, new administration area and staff facilities. A new carpark and parent and bus set down areas are currently under construction and due for completion in April. The building is due for completion in November.

Outdoor leisure and play areas

Claremont Special School has a large quadrangle which is used for physical education activities and school celebrations.

The junior playground provides a stimulating environment to foster play and sensory-motor activities.

The sensory hub caters for students with sensory needs and is located next to the school hall. it was completed in 2016.

In the front of the school there is a bike path, ball court, middle school play structure with a focus on fitness, and large grassed area for group games and sports. 

School nursery, Stephanie Alexander Program and Horticulture program

Claremont has a plant nursery located near the Rodney Street entrance to the school. The nursery is equipped with a covered teaching space, storage areas and green house. The nursery is a teaching space used within the Agrifoods, horticulture and Stephanie Alexander programs. Gardens are located at the front of the school to support the kitchen garden program.


All classroom teaching and learning spaces at the school are equipped with interactive electronic white boards, iPads and classroom computers.
