Vocational education

The following certificate courses are offered to students in the senior school at Claremont Special School:

  • Certificate 1 Hospitality
  • Certificate 1 Access to Vocational Pathways (literacy and numeracy focus)
  • Certificate 1 Agrifoods (Horticulture)
  • Certificate 1 Active Volunteering
  • Certificate 11 Sport and Recreation

The regional special school's RTO or Special Education Training Alliance supports the implementation of course.  Teachers in the senior school are qualified to implement and assess the students. External moderation of certificates occurs through the registered training organisation and certificates are distributed upon completion of modules or certificates. Certificates are certified by the Australian Government.

Students in the senior school participate in internal school and external community work experience. Employers currently supporting student work experience programs include;

  • Meals on Wheels

  • Horseriding for Disabled

  • Life Line

  • Brothers League Club

  • Limestone Park Cafe

  • PCYC

  • Coles

Students participating in community volunteering support, Meals on Wheels and Life Line and gain experience in giving back to the community as well as enhancing their skills in community experience, independent travel, environmental education.
